Since 2002 the Seattle Police Foundation (SPF) has championed public safety in Seattle. The foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to supporting and strengthening the work of the Seattle Police Department (SPD) through philanthropy, advocacy, and building strong community partnerships.
SPF supports both the unfunded and underfunded program and capital expenses of the Seattle Police Department that fall outside of the city’s budget. In addition, the foundation provides funding to officers and civilian staff through program grants that emphasize community building, officer wellness, and support to children and families in need.
Seattle Police Foundation funded grants in 2024 focused on crime prevention, specialized equipment and technology, and community outreach, some of these programs and initiatives included:
Newly installed memorial honoring fallen Seattle Police Officer Alexandra “Lexi” Brenneman Harris
Heroes and Helpers holiday shopping event - supported 100 families for the holidays
Courageous Lions for Courageous Kids provide traumatized children resources, hope, and care for those who have experienced domestic violence, homelessness, food insecurity, and more. This program also provides children with a stuffed lion to affirm their courage and supports them on their path to wellness.
Continued funding of the Beds for Kids program supporting more than 60 families.
Before the Badge program funding to support new recruits in building meaningful relationships and gaining a deeper understanding of diverse cultures through participation in community meetings with SPD’s advisory councils
Little Saigon Place-Based Crime Prevention Initiative to identify evidence-based interventions to address local conditions that contribute to crime/safety issues occurring in this unique environment. This is a multi-year community partnership in collaboration with area business owners, civic leaders, Seattle Fire Department, SPD and SPF.
